Kind Words

I remember when I was a little girl, our teacher at Sunday school would say it is better to lay a hand than say cruel words because they cut deep and won’t heal like wound.

I do believe that words are the most powerful tool ever invented in the world. Depending on how it is said and not by who said it. Words have the power to manipulate, heal, nurture, destroy, help, inspire, frustrate, sadden, encourage, motivate or make people back off.

It is not what you said but how it was told. A word does not have a permanent meaning, it evolves and ever changing and it’s meaning vary greatly in color and content according to the circumstances and the time in which it is used.

It is funny how we, no matter how familiar or common talking or speaking in our native language, seem to have not mastered and grasp the real power of words. Sometimes we are not able to really express what we truly feel or sometimes send mixed signals.

When we are happy, there aren’t enough words to describe how we feel or sometimes give understatements. When we are mad, we say really nasty things we normally do not mean but go overboard just to hurt the other person who offended us.

It is said that it is the man who determines what is said, not the words. If you have the choice, never lose the chance of saying a kind word, it is not demoralizing or degrading to do so. Saying kind words can be short and easy to speak but they will remain in the heart and in the mind of the person you have spoken it to.
Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace. Buddha

    Hello Earthlingorgeous,

It's kind of funny that you bring this up. The other day I had an argument with my boss and he said some things that were hurtful to me. He later apologized for what he had said and said he was just frustrated and I want to pass it off as just that.

The problem is that whenever I close my eyes I can still hear those hurtful words. I won't respond as I will be the bigger person but my views have changed and the trust level is not where it was. Words can cut like a knife.

I am sorry that I haven't commented in a few days as I have been nursing an injury. I posted all about it in The Urban Gardener http://tugardener.blogspot.com/ Go and read all about it.

I do have a question for you.

How did you come up with the name Earthlingorgeous? I would really like to hear the story behind the name. Sorry to put you on the spot like that but......

I cannot tell you how much I like this blog entry on kind words. I try to live by this philosophy, because wounds heal but unkind words sometimes do not. Thank you for a wonderful message!
