S.H.O.E.S.

Ooopsy it's been awhile since I post my S.H.O.E.S. (Seven Heaven On Earth, seven things, events, places or whatever that I appreciate.)

1) I was so happy to see my daughter explored the Kids At Work and did not cry during their "field trip" at her school. I guess she was comfortable with kids like her in the place and with adults who understands her and her likes :) I am so proud of her! She was singing while trying to find her way out of the tunnels 20 feel high and I can't even see her!

2) My hunny is back home, he was discharged from the hospital and getting better now, just gaining back his lost weight!

3) Awesome and unexpected blessing last week and it was used for a great purpose. Thanks!

4) I won $50 from Evilwoobie's birthday bash!

5) Lotsa fun events this weekend, a bridal fair, a chocoluva seminar, parents empowerment seminar and my second parent teacher conference!

6) The Pag-ibig housing loan is finally on a positive move!

7) Summer is here! YAY! Despite the heat it means hit the beach!

I'm Wearing My SHOE Today

I think it’s been awhile, it’s high time for me to take out my S.H.O.E. and wear them proud.

1. I thank God for keeping my family intact and very close. Despite oddness in my mom and dad’s relationship, they managed to stay together for 34 years; it’s their anniversary on June 18. It’s true that when everyone has turned their backs on you, you can always turn to your family for support.

2. My daughter has so many improvements, it may be small things to others but to me and to someone like her it’s a big thing. She now follows command (with a little prodding) like returning her glass to the table after drinking. She now helps pick-up mess she made around the house. She shows a lot of interest in learning new things.

3. We are safe and warm inside our home. Despite it being far from most relative, we never really faced serious illness or suffered from the bad weather or natural disasters in here unlike in other places.

4. It’s great to see relatives I haven’t seen in a long time. It’s sad that there has to be death to bring back relatives together, but with the way my nephew looks into my Aunt’s death (his grandmother and my father’s sister) “We should celebrate because now she is fulfilled.” (and also released from pain.)

5. Rosalyn Sanchez (the Latina secret agent from the movie Rush Hour 2) was added from the roster of my lucky celebrity look-a-likes like Eva Langoria and Jessica Alba just to name a few. (Hahahaha!) Actually, as long as the one I love thinks I’m the most gorgeous woman on Earth and the last woman on Earth for him then I am happy. It feels great to be reminded of that often.

6. I’ve been shopping for the past couple weeks already. Clothes, machines, food, shoes, accessories and other home stuff.

7. Having a mani-pedi (manicure and pedicure) and home-service massage. Heaven!

What's your SHOE today?

No, it’s not the typical shoe you wear to work or play. It’s your Seven Heaven On Earth (SHOE) some of you may already be familiar with it because I just wrote about it a couple post away. Its listing down seven things or events in your day that didn’t make it as bad as you think it was. Some things that made you smile, giggle, laugh, and made you feel good. It’s something or anything good that doesn’t need to be grand like; “sipping the perfectly brewed coffee from Starbucks on the way to work”.

I have become my own version of an optimist. If I can't make it through one door, I'll go through another door - or I'll make a door. Something terrific will come no matter how dark the present.

Rabindranath Tagore

Were we trained to look for negativity or was it a personal choice that we become such. Ever notice yourself grumpy in the morning? Sometimes I do, especially when I wake before the time I wish to wake up. When we wake up in a bad mood, we say we woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but have you actually heard of waking up on the right side of bed? No.

So, after waking up, we either turn on the radio or TV for the morning news or read the morning paper and it will strike you with the events the other day “59 killed in a bomb attack in Iraq”, “US in recession”, “Performer’s house burned after robbing and raping her”, “Britney Spears drugged” (my headlines are fictional I’m just trying to give you the idea). Don’t you just hate the world for all these violence and bad news going around?

And so you go to work either by public transport or drive in your own car. Traffic! So your day already is ruined. You go to work wishing time goes by fast so you can go home. Annoying office mates and some boring work you have or you have too much work to do. Today will be a horribly long day! Finally, going home, traffic, etc. etc. Got the idea?

What I mean is that finding annoying things in your life is very easy, it’s like an unconscious choice. However, finding joys in the simple things in your life can be tough and takes a lot of practice and patience.

Let’s look at the same example in a different way. Waking up earlier than expected instead of being grumpy think of it as having more time to go shower, eat a big breakfast, surf the internet or write yesterdays S.H.O.E. because you forgot to write it last night.Noticing life little wonders, will make wonders in your life. Honestly, the first few days I tried writing my SHOE it was hard, I have to think real hard, but when I get the hang of it, finding and noticing wonderful things, good stuffs around me is as simple as blinking.

Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results.

Willie Nelson

I encourage and challenge everyone to write down their S.H.O.E. everyday and please feel free to tell me the experience of doing it the first time. After a couple of days come back and tell about your progress, how does it feel? Was it easier to find good things now that you are used to it than the first time? Good luck! :)

What's your SHOE today?
